Girls who love to solve puzzles, uncover clues, and crack cases will love Mini Mysteries. Along with Marie and her best friend, Noelle, girls must figure out which clues in the story will help solve the mystery and which ones are red herrings those false leads that can send a reader in the wrong direction. A repeating cast of characters and real-life girl situations allow readers to connect with the stories they're reading. Once the reader solves the mystery, she can tear open a case folder in the back of the book to check her answer!

The stories are just the right length and difficulty for her age (nearly 9 years old) and she really gets a kick out of reading them out loud to the entire family, at the dinner table. We all try to solve the mystery but thus far have been stumped each time. I highly recommend the book for a 7 to, say, 10 or 11 year old girl. 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful A Must for the Classroom Library, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Mini Mysteries: 20 Tricky Tales to Untangle (American Girl Library) (Paperback) I bought this for my 6th grade classroom library. It is perfect for sustained silent reading. I have the students read every day for the first few minutes of class. The students can read one mystery and use critical thinking skills and other comprehension skill to solve the mystery. This is a must have for classroom libraries grades 3-7. 16 of 19 people found the following review helpful A Book Review from a Spiritridge Third Grader, This review is from: Mini Mysteries: 20 Tricky Tales to Untangle (American Girl Library) (Paperback) If you love to uncover clues look inside Mini Mysteries!
